Event Description

Bronze Coin Race on the road the Big's! Linked to 2026 Capital Backyard Ultra in Lorton, VA. The 4.167 mile out and back course starts at r3 motoworx and traces through the woods on private property crossing Barn Creek (don't worry there is a bridge) adjacent to Colditz Cove State Natural Area. The terrain will be a combination of gravel, road, and trail with less than 300 feet of elevation gain. In the first year of the event, 83% of participants finished at least a 50K distance, 50% finished 100K, and 28% finished 100+ miles. This is a race and course designed to get you a distance PR. The first loop will start at 7am. Each loop thereafter will start on the hour every hour with a 3, 2, and 1 minute warning. Race rules will follow the official backyard ultra guidelines as follows:

. Except for restrooms, competitor may not leave the course until each loop is completed
. No non-competitors on the course (including eliminated runners)
. No personal aid during a loop
. Each loop must be completed within an hour to be counted… including the final lap.
. No artificial aids (including trekking poles)
. Slower runners must allow passes.
. The winner is the last person to complete a loop
. All others are technically DNF
. Results of each runner in terms of distance covered are to be given.
. If no runner can complete one more loop than anyone else, there is no winner.

Aid Station

All runners will be allowed to set up a tent along the start corral. No runner/crew vehicles will be allowed in crew tent area after set up. This will allow all runners to have equal space along the start/finish corral. If runners would like more space camp sites and RV sites can be reserved. The main aid station will be located next to the start corral.
Warm food, water, and drinks will be available as well as bathrooms (port-a-potties).

Awards

All runners who complete 100 miles will get a belt buckle.  Top Male and Female will get a head to toe rabbit kit!!

The Stats

Our inaugural year showed this is a distance PR course. But don't take our word for it, check out the 2023 stats...83% of starters finished at least 50K, 50%, finished 100K, and 28% went 100+ miles! Those numbers are incredible. 5 out of 18 runners in 2023 ran 100+ miles.
